Right Side
🇪🇸 Barcelona, Spain
Right Side Coffee was founded in 2012 in the parking lot of its founder, Joaquín Parra, with a clear goal: to search for the best coffees in the world. From the very beginning, Joaquín focused on building direct relationships with farmers and refining his roasting skills to offer a level of quality that, at the time, was primarily available at barista competitions.
The early days were challenging, but they were also full of opportunity – everything was still ahead of them. Their mantra was simple but firm: do everything with integrity, remain consistent, and grow organically. They wanted to learn how to source and import their own coffee without relying on intermediaries. Together with producers, they began exploring new fermentation and drying methods and looking for ways to move beyond established practices.
Their beginnings inspired the name of the roastery. Their initial budget barely covered two bags of green coffee, so as they continued to build the business, they relied primarily on their passion and creativity. They knew they couldn't afford to rush anything, so they let the right hemisphere of the brain guide them – the “Right Side,” associated with creativity.
They wanted to offer coffee that would excite everyone who tasted it, while also sparking curiosity about their work and encouraging people to talk about it.
