Kopi Bean
🇨🇿 Brno, Czech Republic
Jakub Fiala's journey to coffee plantations began back in 2005. Originally, it was the timber trade that led him to travel regularly around the Indonesian islands. His trips lasted for weeks, and spending his free time on beaches soon became boring.
At the time, friends told him about what was supposedly the most expensive coffee in the world – Kopi Luwak, or civet coffee. He reached out to friends in Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Bali, and his journey in pursuit of coffee began.
They roast all their coffee themselves in Brno-Královo Pole, in small batches based on orders and exclusively to a medium roast – enough to develop its sweetness, but not so much that the roasting process overpowers the flavour of the coffee's origin.
For every coffee, they know which farm it comes from, how it was processed, and what its cupping profile is.
