Kmen

🇨🇿 Prachatice, Czech Republic

It has deep roots and gives rise to new branches. Eight years ago, Petr, their head roaster, brought specialty coffee to South Bohemia with his then-roastery, Fragaria Coffee. He also has extensive experience working as a barista at Café Datel. It was there that he began working with Lucie, Kryštof, and Datel's former owners, Zuzka and Honza, with whom they founded Kmen.

They have all been working with specialty coffee for a long time, but everything is new for them as a team: a new name, new people, new premises, and new packaging.

They don't believe there is just one right taste. Every harvest and every plot is different and tastes different. Whether they were in Panama, Vietnam, Colombia, Rwanda, or Peru, they secretly snacked on ripe coffee cherries at the farms. That's where you truly realize that coffee is actually a fruit.

And that's exactly what they want to communicate through their packaging and, in fact, everything they do: coffee doesn't have one universally correct taste. Quite the opposite.

That's why every bag features the fruit that best characterizes that particular coffee. Admittedly, sometimes it might be nuts, chocolate, or gummy bears. But they, too, belong in the world of coffee.
